Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Novel Star website at novel-star.com and the Novel Star mobile applications (together, the “Service”), operated by Summit App Marketing LLC (“we”, “our”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU/UK) to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this age requirement. The Service is intended for a general audience and contains romantic fiction; if you are uncomfortable with such content, please do not use the Service.

Accounts

You may use parts of the Service without an account. Some features (saving reading progress across devices, subscriptions) require you to create one. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

Subscriptions and billing

Premium subscriptions are sold through Stripe on the website and through Apple App Store or Google Play in the mobile apps. Prices are shown at the point of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your account page (web) or your platform’s subscription settings (mobile); cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Free trials, where offered, convert to paid subscriptions at the end of the trial period unless cancelled before the trial ends. Promotional discounts apply only to the periods described at sign-up.

Refunds

Web subscriptions purchased via Stripe are non-refundable except where required by law. Mobile subscriptions are subject to the refund policies of the Apple App Store or Google Play and must be requested through those platforms.

Ad-supported access

Some books are made available without a subscription in exchange for watching advertisements. Watching an ad unlocks access on the device you used; we may continue to show in-content advertising while you read those books. Premium subscribers do not see advertisements.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Copy, redistribute, scrape, or republish content from the Service without our written permission.
• Attempt to circumvent paywalls, share account credentials, or use unauthorized means to access premium content.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise probe the Service except where permitted by law.
• Use the Service to harass others, post unlawful content, or violate any applicable law.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the Service.

Intellectual property

All content on the Service — including the books, cover art, text, design, logos, and software — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own non-commercial enjoyment. You receive no other rights.

User-submitted content

When you submit ratings or other content to the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and analyze that content to operate and improve the Service. You represent that you have the right to submit it.

DMCA / copyright complaints

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to jack@summitappmarketing.com including (1) identification of the copyrighted work, (2) identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location on the Service, (3) your contact information, (4) a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized, and (5) a statement made under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for conduct that we reasonably believe harms the Service, other users, or us. You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account via the data deletion page.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD $50, whichever is greater.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Michigan for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
