When Sophie posts an April Fools' divorce announcement as a harmless prank on her husband Michael, she expects a few laughs and maybe some panicked texts from friends. What she doesn't expect is for the post to go viral, for Michael's celebrity client to demand he fix his "personal mess," or for her own boss to suddenly question her judgment at work. As the fake breakup spirals into real consequences, Sophie and Michael must decide whether to come clean and look foolish or keep up the charade just a little longer. But the longer they pretend to be separated, the more their actual marriage begins to crack under the weight of the lie. Sometimes the best pranks are the ones that reveal truths you weren't ready to face.
